Advice: How Bad are Scratch-Off Lotto Tickets?
Community member kadyisawesome182@xanga submitted a question to us, and we thought it would make a great advice post.
Her question is:
I turned eighteen back in September. Ever since then, I have been itching for scratch tickets. Whether it's harmless fun with a friend to go pick a few up, or me by myself I get a thrill. Do I really want to win money that bad or do I just like the thrill of chance?
Do you or anyone you know have a gambling problem?
Do you think it's just harmless fun or a serious problem?Help her out by commenting here or replying to the advice post!

I did the same thing when I turned 18 in June. There is a certain thrill to it, but as long as it doesn't get to the point where you're buying $40 worth everyday, like some people I know. Just keep it in check, and ask a friend our parent to keep you accountable.
When gambling comes before the things that used to be important to someone, or it's all they can think about, then it's a big problem.
Scratch off tickets? Uh I suppose it could become a problem if you start wasting all your money of them. Because lets face it the most you'll ever when at best is that dollar back..I guess if you really wanted to gamble your dollar buy a power ball ticket???

scratch off lotto tickets are fun~ i dont understand why somebody doesnt just buy all the tickets and hope they get one.
Those are one of the worst bets to make--that kind of gambling bugs me, and I rely in part on poker for income, heh. Have fun with that.
theyre fun but more often than not a waste of money. ive heard a lot of stories of friends of friends winning thousands or more amounts of money but no one ive personally known at any point has won a crazy amount.
