All of the unclaimed baggage in the United States goes to the
Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, Alabama. There, they sell most of it, but keep some other items in a museum of strange things they've found.
Here's a taste of what can be found at the Unclaimed Baggage Center:
- Hoggle from the movie Labyrinth - now featured in their museum (pictured above)
- A collection of Egyptian artifacts in a Gucci suitcase
- A live rattlesnake
- A GPS for the Navy, worth $250,000
- A Barbie stuffed with $500 in bills inside the body (not sure how they fit that in there, she's not hollow!)
- A replica suit of armor
- A violin from the 1770s
- A camera for NASA, designed for a space shuttle
- A 40.35 carat natural emerald
You'd think that if someone was taking this stuff with them on a plane, they'd be a bit more careful!

i wanna visit that place !
and luckily, i haven't lost any luggage. hopefully it'll never happen,
I'm thinking some of the people that didn't pick that stuff up died or were killed.
The only thing to say is:
HOLY SHIT ARE THESE PEOPLE KIDDING ME????
That would be really interesting to see all this stuff. Or to be the one who discovered it.. except the live rattlesnake one.
Ah, so that's where my rattlesnake got to...
wow, really?
i bet there was a lot of facepalm-ing going on after those people realized they forgot their luggage.
I've never been on a plane, but wow..you'd think they'd want that stuff. It's not like it's just a duffle full of extra socks or something..
That's GREAT!!! I hope they returned that camera to NASA...
Hoggle!!!
I totally want that :P I loved that movie so much as a kid.
RATTLESNAKE?
I would not want to be the one to find that.
@And_I_love@xanga - or it was drug related!
And that is why my name is all over my baggage and I carry unique pieces!! I would guess that a lot of things that end up there just cant be identified for certain!
My Hoggle! That's where he is?!! I am so on my way to Alabama. Curse you, Pan Am!!!
Haha, that's crazy...
I've never been there, but it sounds... interesting to say the least.
MY EGYPTIAN ARTIFACT!
Now I'll NEVER finish putting together my Millennium Puzzle.

Lmao. Hoggle!
Lol.
It was probably an old barbie, they used to be hollow plastic
@And_I_love@xanga - Or, it was stolen.
i'm from Scottsboro, Alabama & live really close to Unclaimed.. it's like the biggest tourist place we have.. or rather.. the only. Oprah has been there :) they sometimes have really neat stuff or sometimes it's like going to a yard sale when anything good has been overpicked. My cousin used to work there & would tell me about some really cool stuff that would come though =)
Regarding the barbie, they probably removed her mini-silicones, and found plenty of empty space in the brain section ; )
Gosh, that's mad. If I had a NASA camera, it'd be strapped to me at all times!
Wow! Precious finds!
We go there every so often since Scottsboro is only about 30 minutes from us. It's amazing what you can find there! Don't be fooled by the other shops close by who also claim they sell unclaimed baggage; all they are are resell Goodwill-type stores who are trying to cash in on the Unclaimed Baggage name, and you can definitely see the difference in the quality of merchandise.
lol!!
Wow, I would love to go there!
