  • Are You a Gambler?

I have never been a gambler. But for the past two weeks I've been visiting my parents up in northern Michigan where there's NOTHING to do...except go to the casino 10 minutes away. It's the only place open past 10 pm, and as a result I've been three times already.

I'm perfectly content to sit at a slot machine with $20 for the night because I really hate parting with any significant portion of my money. But my boyfriend is up here with me and absolutely hates playing the slots so he's been playing roulette at the table. It's crazy how quickly he was able to burn through money!

One night we were at a table with two guys acting like total ballers. They were cycling through winning big and losing big, but ended the night losing big. While I envied their big hits, I can't even imagine laying down the kind of bets they had to in order to get the big wins. When it comes down to it, I'm too risk averse for gambling. I think about saving my money way too much to part with it so easily. My boyfriend, on the other hand, has no problem separating that chunk of money from "his" money, so he can play with it easily and just enjoy himself.

Do you ever gamble?  Are you able to part with your money to do it? If so, do you have any strategies you follow to keep from losing too much?

I am not a big gambler.  I look at it as entertainment money. When we go to the casinos (either in Vegas or Atlantic City) I never spend a lot of money.  But I am ok with losing some because I see it for the entertainment value rather than thinking I will win big.

I don't gamble much anymore. I've lost some money in the past. mostly I just lost, never won. so it just seemed dumb after a while to keep playing. I know someone who had a real problem gambling though. this person lost a house and all their savings. it can get really bad.

I gamble here and there...it's more of a family bonding activity haha. I make sure that if I have the money that I leave some at home so I don't go crazy haha. I gamble if my parents decide to go or if i'm bored or if i'm really, REALLY desperate for some cash haha.

hell no. i would NEVER gamble, i hate gambling its a waste of money and money does not come by easy especially nowadays. its a silent killer but if you must and you like, the secret to gambling is KNOWING WHEN TO STOP. dont think you could beat the casino because you cant :) they're the casino, you're just the player. some people just dont know when to stop...

I occasionally play poker with friends or online ... but I hate going to the casinos.

I go every friday armed with $20-- and that includes drinks, food, and gambling. But some of my friends will sit down and play poker for a grand a hand. Really? I need a new car... and apartment... clothes... I know I'm gonna loose it so why spend it?
