Do Multinational Coroporations Have Souls?
I hope they won't fire the guy. I really hope they won't. He didn't mean it.Tonight, while me, my mom and my aunt took off for Wal-mart, my uncle stayed in the car for a short nap when he heard a loud thud from behind. A long line of carts smashed the car's bumper leaving it torn and hanging... but don't be so quick to judge the cart collector. It wasn't the his fault. My uncle clearly witnessed what happened, and I hope surveillance cams did too. So a young Caucasian lady was stupid enough to try and wrench a cart from a running mass. The cart collector, whose name I remember was Joe, swerved to prevent the line of carts from directly hitting her, plunging into the car instead. And guess what, that lady ran back to Wal-mart after a short row with Joe, like nothing happened. How irresponsible of her! Reckless no-brainer!
Don't get me wrong. I'm a lil' upset because Joe's the one who has to face the consequences and worse... the blame. I'm afraid they'll fire him. He was a nice Caucasian bloke in his late-forties and he looked miserable. He was slumped down low apologizing repeatedly as if it was his mistake. You and I know that with the extremity of the number of unemployed Americans, a job can be an all or nothing life support. It's not easy landing a job in the midst of this crushing recession. He probably has a family waiting for him at home, relying on the handful of cash he makes pushing carts night by night. What will they have left if he loses his job? The last thing we need is more jobless workers.
Then again, I hope they won't fire him. I hope the Wal-mart management will dig deep into their souls and reconsider. Or do multinational corporations still have souls for the digging?

Oh, this breaks my heart. :l
who was responsible for paying for the damage then? walmart? i hope he wont get fired either. did your uncle explain that to his supervisor??
That just tears at my heart when it happens...
I hate people like that!!!
I hope he gets to keep his job
awww. :[ Do let us know what happens in the end.
@calpolymatEsarecool@xanga - Yes, my uncle and Joe talked to the manager about the incident who didn't look too convinced but I hope she took to heart what both parties said. Also, Walmart's paying for the damage but they have yet to call my aunt.
@Sun_Starflower@xanga - I went to Walmart on Black Friday but due to the enormous crowd, I didn't catch sight of him. I hope to inform you guys with nothing but good news soon.
That's awful, I hope he doesn't get fired, either. :( However, it wouldn't surprise me if he did get fired. Especially since Wal-Mart is supposed to pay for the damages. If they weren't doing that, he might have a better chance of not getting fired.
Then again, he might be able to sue for wrongful termination if they do fire him. Yes, he did ruin the bumper on your aunt's car. However, he did that to avoid causing possibly severe bodily harm to a customer, who purposely got in his way. So, it wasn't his fault at all. It would be tough to win even in that case, if he did get fired and sued for wrongful termination. But, not totally impossible.
Then again, he would have to have money to sue and even if he did win, there's no guarantee he'd get his job back or compensation.
"Caucasian lady", was there need to mention the race?
@xourlastendeavorx@xanga - Sorry if that offended you. I had no intention of generalizing a race :) I did mention that Joe was caucasian too right? And he was really nice...as well as the store manager.
@RandomCitizen25@xanga - @Sun_Starflower@xanga - @tracezilla@lovelyish - @XAngelExpress31X@xanga - Just letting you all know that Joe's still up and workin' at Wakmart. We even got to meet him last week. Everything's settled.
@feathereyecandy@xanga - Yay! I'm glad that he's still working there! Thank you for the update! :)
