  • Anatomy of a Cell Phone Bill

From our friends at the Billshrink.com blog, check out this post that breaks own  just what you're paying for in that cellphone bill...

What are you paying for? We broke down all the fees and charges on a typical cell phone bill and found some things you pay for that you may not be aware of. Pay-per-use data access charges can rack up quickly if you’re charged by the KB and if you’re on a cruise, you’ll want to turn the phone off to avoid expensive roaming charges.

Do any of these charges surprise you?

Downloading a movie off your phone in another country can cost you millions! even billions!

    No, they don't surprise.
That right there ^ is the reason you get a PLAN.

I thought they got rid of roaming..well, at least I thought Cingular/AT&T did ..but I guess some carriers still charge for it. And plus why would you want to watch videos, or download stuff on your phone while you're abroad! I mean if you have to for work, then I can understand that, but if you're visiting that country, then turn your phone off! :P

I think that cell phone billing  is much like medical billing and bank billing ,that is some creative sneaky people have found ways to up theprofit margins the company makes and create  more jobs for people who have to use their formulas in order to compute the bills.that rely on us just looking at the final numbers and assuming we can not challenge how the add it up.Having a land line is just as confusing really.I am very leary of any bundles ,it seems code for hidden fees.

On a side note I totally enjoy and appreciate this blog.its fresh ,smart and a place to learn stuff.
