Cheap and Easy Halloween Ideas?
Today I saw one of the first signs of Fall: a Halloween USA. With school gearing up, I had really lost track of time and didn't even realize how close Halloween is.
When I was a kid, my mom made every single one of my costumes, so I've actually never purchased a costume before. As I've gotten older, it's getting harder to me to come up with creative costumes. I don't have my mother's sewing skills, but I refuse to dress up as a "naughty" anything, so buying a pre-made costume is pretty much out of the question (don't even get me started on the costume selection for women out there...bah). Not to mention the fact that I never want to have the same costume as everyone else.
This year I'll most likely see if I can put together some kind of quirky movie character using mostly my own wardrobe items. It's far cheaper this way and then I won't be wearing the same exact thing as another girl.
Since I'm back to a place where trick or treating doesn't really happen, I don't have to worry about decorating anything this year. I was never very good at it anyway!
What are you guys doing for a costume? Do you have any cheap or easy costume ideas? How about for decorations?

I just buy my costume. There are some women costumes that are decent, granted not many....
I'm sewing my own Halloween costume. Trying to go for Chun Li from the Street Fighter video game. If you don't feel like making your own, you could do something that uses everyday clothes :) The first things that popped into my head were Quailman from the Doug cartoon and a Legends of the Hidden Temple contestant. Also, makeup goes a long way! You could be a zombie or rag doll easily.
beauty pageant - take your old prom dress - throw on a sash and a crown = you're good to go
be a hockey or football player. get a jersey ( alittle bigger ) & not to mention, you can get them cheap at a thrift store. get cute leggings ( so make sure the jersey is long enough to cover you ) wear a cute pair of flats or sneakers and put on some makeup and put those black lines under your eye. pigtails / ponies will make it much cuter too.
Buy clothes. I got a mini hat, lace petticoat skirt & a corset top & I'm just doing my make up. All together it's a great outfit & I can wear it all or just different pieces later on. It was cheaper than buying Halloween specific things because they charge more.
yeah, i hate the emphasis on slutty women's costumes, too.
i totally agree on the womens costumes. i also live in the midwest, and it is almost certainly going to rain and/or be in the 30's. i decided i want to go vegas elvis this year.i bought my decorations from the dollar store. (they actually had good stuff this year!) good luck with the costume!
