• Do You Dream About Work?

  
  

  You hear all the time how we're a country of workaholics who can't separate work from their personal lives. I know I used to struggle with that. So much so that it would even follow me into my dreams! Before I left for school, I would dream about work at least once a week. Unfortunately these weren't the happy kind of dream where everyone threw a party for me and carried me around on their shoulders.
  

  But they also weren't nightmares that had me bolting awake in bed. Oh no, these were the worst kind: they felt completely real and completely plausible. Sometimes I would dream that I had a major screw up and sent the wrong documents to the law firm on the other side of the lawsuit, completely screwing up our case. Other times I would dream that I forgot to handle some task around the office and am getting chewed out for it.

   But most frequently, I dreamed about checking my email and formatting Excel charts. That's it- email and charts. These were the worst dreams of all because when I woke up I could never remember what was real and what was the dream, so it took me a while to get my work day set in my head again. It's pretty obvious that a good majority of my job was making sure I checked my email frequently enough and being the office Excel "queen". I wish the dreams were more fantastic so it wouldn't be so hard to separate the dreams from reality.
  

  Even though I'm not working at the firm anymore, I still have the occasional dream about the place. Last night I had a dream about looking for some random file folder. Haha I'm guessing these dreams are all a sign that I think (thought) about work waaaaaay too much.
