230 people vacationing in Italy got very lucky. A hotel in Venice accidentally advertised rooms for one cent. You heard it right: One penny a night at the Crowne Plaza. If that isn't a "Dollarish" deal, then I don't know what is. I wrote a previous post about how
Best Buy wrongly advertised an HDTV set for $9.99 and did not honor the advertised price. With 230 people booking one cent rooms at an average of 6 nights per guest, you can imagine how much money the company would lose. Did the hotel honor the prices?
The hotel, run by the Intercontinental Hotels Group was nice enough to let these tourists book their room for the extremely discounted price. It is estimated that the wrong pricing will cost the company up to 90,000 euros. Good deal for the guests, bad deal for the hotel. But perhaps they were smart by allowing this deal. It gives the guest a good image of the hotel and perhaps they will be inclined to stay there again.
If this happened to you, would you be likely to stay at this hotel again at the full price?

In retail, it's the company's fault if they misprint an ad & they have to honor it. Bad Best Buy!! Or if they dont honor if they have to give something. If that had been me, I would have made the store pay me back the gas money I spent getting there. LOL
As for the hotel, I would stay again. It was good on their part to honor the deal & it does show a good side of the company. The side that says "we accept our mistakes & honor what you paid because we value your business".
My dad mentioned this to my mom, and she wondered if the company would recieve fantastic PR from this whole thing. I'd imagine so! I'd definitely come back and pay full price if the hotel was nice enough to honor the mistake
