Hundreds woke up this morning and found the BIGGEST deal of their lives. Best Buy listed a Samsung 52" HDTV for $9.99. Crowds began to form at local best buy with customers who printed the ad and were looking for this ridiculous ten dollar deal. Was this a real deal?
Unfortunately, it was a print mistake on Best Buy's website. The listing was changed to the original price of $1,699 and was labeled as "Sold Out Online" Many were dismayed about the Best Buy blunder and want their orders granted. Although it was an awful mistake, customers are persistent about this crazy deal.
Did you ever find a deal that was a mistake? If you were a Best Buy customer, how would you feel?

if they advertised it as ten bucks i would be persistent to only pay that much.
it's their mistake, they should be held accountable.
Obviously they're going to be pissed. But it's not like anyone can really expect them to honor it. Yes, it would be the nice thing to do. But honoring all the orders would hurt the company. Not a single person placed the order thinking it was really a $10 HDTV. They all knew it was a misprint.
That's awesome :) What a misprint!
I'm pretty sure I'd be looking for strings on that deal though, like a hidden fee.
haha probably the packaging that big tvs come in is worth more than that...
Hahaha. I'd buy a whole truckload of that tv if the price is for real, and then resell them on a higher price for some neat profit.

Do we want Best Buy to suffer the fate of Circuit City? Where would we go then for electronics? People should understand that it was a clerical error and are arrogant to expect the deal to be granted, in my opinion.
The same thing happened with the Britax carseat (about $300 new) on the Target website about a year ago. People were outraged, but you know what? Typos happen. And Target did give out gift certificates for all those who ordered the carseats.... for $50, I think?
I would feel extremely lucky if they honored it but I would expect and totally understand if they didn't.
It's one thing to have an error that knocks maybe 10% - 20% off the price of an item, it's another thing to wind up with a mistake that takes off 99.4% off the intended price.
Honoring that price is tantamount to giving them away for free, which is why every store typically has a written policy protecting them against typos/errors, as long as they were legitimate mistakes.
My cousin got the Palm Pre for $99. He was one of the few people who got it from.. Bestbuy's I believe? And the next day Bestbuy's announced the misprint and said whoever bought it for 99 could keep it. That lucky son of a bitch.
