Clipping Coupons: Do You Do It?
Using coupons is one of the first tips offered to help save money. Back in the day, that used to mean just clipping the coupons from your Sunday paper or the grocery store's circular. But more and more, coupons are available online. These coupons can be found at retailers' sites, at manufacturers' sites, or even on websites specifically focused on coupons. Some coupons are printable and can be taken to your local brick-and-mortar store, while others are specifically for use online.
And coupons aren't just limited to grocery items either. There are coupons for every category of good available, from electronics to clothes to books. If you look hard enough, you can probably find a discount for it somewhere.
Personally, I definitely don't use coupons to their full potential. They're always a part of my internet shopping process. And I'll also look for printable coupons for clothing stores I plan on going to. But for some reason, I never use coupons in the traditional way. I know it will save me money, but I just never clip coupons for my trips to the grocery stories. While I'm at the store, I'll check the circular for what's on sale, but I won't bring my own coupons in. I don't know why I don't... in fact, it's one of those things I tend to feel guilty about not doing. So every so often, I'll start doing it, only to let it trickle off a little bit after that until I'm back where I started. I'm not sure what it'll take for me to actually make it part of my routine.
Do you ever use coupons? What do you use them for?

I use coupons whenever I find one for what I buy. I can't find too many too often that suit my interests, but I definitely use them and save around $30 or so a month.
No, I don't use coupons. But I know I should. >.<
I clip coupons from the Sunday paper. Even if I don't plan to buy the things right away, I clip out what I have bought in the past. Then when I get to the store, I go through my coupons and see if I have a coupon with what I plan to buy that day! Ignore expiration dates, they'll take them! I saved $7 my last trip!
I don't use them as much as I should, but I keep them in my wallet as a reminder. I'll check the paper for sales/coupons if I need something. I'll look online, CVS prints out coupons which I love and come in handy.
Lately I've been shopping online, and have been trying to find free shipping >.>
There is a lot of hype about coupons. They save only when you were planning to buy that item in the first place, and there is not a less expensive alternative. That said, I do use them and tend to save $2 to $10 when doing my monthly shopping. I do not buy many prepared foods; I buy ingredients, and those seldom have coupons.
Yep, I do :)
I'll purchase anything if the price fits my budget.I print coupons from the web and redeem them at any stores or restaurants I'm heading off to on my next shopping trip. Most coupons carried by me come from the newspapers or store circulars, because my preferred way of doing things is the traditional way.
Yep, I'm a regular coupon-clipper.
It saves us bunches of money and helps me stay within our $60 a week for groceries/household items budget.
i clip coupons especially if its a really great deal :)
Yeah, I use coupons. I hate those people who think they are to good for coupons, but can't even afford what they are buying. It's stupid.
haha i preach coupons to everyone i know!
i usually use them when going shopping at specific stores at the mall
Hell YEAH! I mean, why not?? Free stuff, discounts, why turn the opportunity to pay LESS down?
I am so tired of cutting coupons out. I have even started to buy them on Fleabay. I have been using the internet printables, but that is even a pain sometimes. The only good site I found so far is www.slickbudget.com. They have hundreds of coupons in alphabetical order and there is not sign up. Anyone else have some good sites to share?
i clip coupons as well as look for sales
Hell yeah I do. I definitely believe in getting the most for your money. I don't clip a coupon for something that I don't think I'll use or want...a coupon is not an excuse to get me to purchase something!
Food, toiletries, you name it. If it is something I need or want in my household and there's a coupon for it--clipped, used.
Before I go to the store I go through my coupons to see what I have to compare to my shopping list. It makes things easier when you get to the register, too...
Yep. I use them for anything!
The vast majority of shopping I do is grocery shopping, and I have a Kroger card, so I tend to get good discounts even without coupons. But, I should start clipping them anyway, just in case.
yeah, sometimes. i try to look for online codes for when i'm ordering clothes online
Coupons are very helpful...especially for groceries!
@averyswife@xanga - $60 a week?!?!?! SERIOUSLY? Tell me how you do it.
@cutesycharm@xanga - I would type all my tips out, but that would make for a mega-comment.
I wrote about saving money grocery shopping recently though, and here's the link: http://www.examiner.com/x-18779-San-Antonio-Frugal-Living-Examiner~y2009m8d11-Cutting-Costs-101-The-Grocery-Budget. Basically you just have to shop smart and don't buy what you don't need.
Yep. I like to stock up on deodorant, face wash, tooth brushes, shampoos, stuff like that. It's been a really long time since I've bought those basic items.
yeah, i use coupons. it sometimes seem awkward to walk in with coupons, but i feel good about it after. :)
