  • Do Your Pets Live In Luxury?

I was checking my twitter updates today, and I saw that Paris Hilton uploaded several twitpic updates. Yes, I follow her on twitter. I happen to think she is quite an interesting person. These twitpic updates consisted of various pictures of her mini doggie mansion and her dogs' 'designer' toys. I was so amazed by the house; this 'mini' doghouse looks nicer than the house I live in!

    Its gorgeous!

    The interior.

I thought the names of the toys were so clever!

My reaction when I first saw these pictures was speechless. I knew people spent a lot of their pets but this is new to me. I've never heard of pet designer brands and I've only seen nice dog houses like that in cartoons! Personally, if I had the money, I'd love to spoil my dogs with a nice mini-mansion and 'designer' toys.

Would you spoil your pets? How would you spoil them?

    WOW LOL. Lucky pets...
I don't have any pets... my mom can't stand animals in the house (not even fish) lol.

That's too adorable.  I'd definetly would spoil them like that if I'm rich.

I hardly ever have to buy toys for my cat.  I'm lucky that one of her favorite things to play with is the plastic rings off of milk.  She also has a huge variety of cat toys that I make for her and other family member's pets.

That's cute, not gonna deny it. But no, my pets are not sitting in the lap of luxury. Even if I had enough money to afford that kind of extravagant lifestyle for them, I wouldn't spend it on something as useless as that.

Not to be all "holier than thou" or anything, but how many kids could benefit from being lavished with as much money as Paris is throwing away on her dogs?

  • pinkdagger@xanga

That's because she's Paris Hilton. Paris is exactly the kind of person to spend frivolously on things she doesn't need and will never use and can be applied to no practical circumstances; dogs don't need or want a big house with a bunch of beds to lie around in and chandeliers - they probably want to play with their "pack" members, but Paris is too busy so a bunch of cushions in a big hollow pink and white thing will suffice. As KatrinaReads has already mentioned, with that sum of money, hundreds of thousands of kids could be given BASIC necessities to survive. But no, her most recent little dog(s) need(s) a mansion. Give me a break.

Also, she can buy all the shit she wants for her pets, stupid little clothes and houses and whatnot, but as soon as they outweigh 3lbs or take a lunge at her for sticking her face in theirs just because they're SOOOO CUTE when they're pissed, they get tossed away and you never see or hear of them with her again. She's the last example I would EVER look to in any money, animal, or social matters. Despite the kind of person she thinks she is, the way she acts and sees the world orbiting around her makes me feel sorry for her.

My pets live well. Better than adequately, but not in luxury. My birds have spacious cages, but if I could afford it I'd build/buy them an aviary. They eat great quality food and get good variety, but if I could buy time, I'd use more time to shop for and serve more, and organic. They have a lot of nice toys, but destructibility always means I'll have to buy more.

@pinkdagger@xanga - Totally agree with you! Nice arguments!

  • black_lie@xanga

Haha that's repulsive. I thought I spoiled my pets, never mind.

My dog Mookie is my child (for the time being) and even after i have children of my own i vow that he will still be my first born.  I admit i spoil him ridiculous amount although i laugh when i see him enjoy an empty water bottle more than his build a bear or webkins.  We need to remember its the simpler things in life that matter.  How many times as children did we have more fun with the (bicycle) box than the actual toy?

If dog will have that kind of luxurious house, well , why not the owner too???We'd all like the love of our lives to be rich and single when we're looking for love.  We don't always meet someone who's rich and single, but a lot of people would fork out extra cash to learn how to snag someone who fits that description.  First – go to where those people are.  Some examples are Santa Clara, Coronado, or Hermosa Beach, all in California.  Median incomes are over $100,000 – and high numbers of single people.  Remember, it is California and the cost of living there requires the average person to look into an online cash advance more than other places.  Some people would get installment loans to figure out how to snag the rich and single.

paris hilton's got the money so its not too much of a surprise that her dogs are living like. i just don't understand how she keeps on losing her dogs...its almost as if they're replaceable. :P

  • lovelyingenue@xanga

WOAH. I thought my pets were spoiled, but nothing like that! I just give them lots of love and attention as well as cook their food and let them nap on the bed, lol.

  • devil_undercover@xanga

    Paris Hilton is just ridiculous.

At least she loves her dog, I give her that.

I love my dogs, I spoil them, but not up to her level.

I buy them good food, take them to the groomer's when they need to go, brush their teeth, clean them, buy lotsa toys for them.

My Sophie is a 20 month Golden, and she loves those chew toys. That dog has super strong teeth so I do buy a lot of toys for.  Sophie was born with a genetic disorder and her medical bills for surgery etc cost me 2000 dollars! But I love her, so it was nothing.

My other dog Sprite has an oily skin problem, so I spend a lot of her medicated shampoo and medication.

The other lovely old girl Chewie is just enjoying her old age (she's 15 and a half), but yea, I do get her supplements.

  • cchang604@xanga

LOL! Those are SO cute. Thanks for sharing. I'd prob never look into that myself. But yeah, if I had a pet, I probably would. Hehehe. :)

  • GaMeGurLsH@xanga

If I had endless amount of money yes I would.

  • redmakesmeblue@xanga

Woow I would love to give that to my dog if I had the money.. and I thought that I spoil my dog.

Well, I think my dog lives well without it. She only cares for tennis balls and food, and nothing else. :P
  • babykittytara@xanga

I guess I spoil mine as much as possible for a lower middle-class income, lol.  Relatively expensive food for the cat, a larger than necessary cage for the guinea pig, and our rat lives on all sorts of table scraps that he loves.  That's about as spoiled as my pets will ever get.

I built my own dog house from scratch. Does anyone still do that these days?

  • xiaosnowtenshi@xanga

I'd buy my cat a house just so he'd stop destroying my living room. But like someone else mentioned, pets don't need fancy toys. They can entertain themselves with a water bottle or a box just fine.

  • teddynsnoopy@xanga

that is ridiculously cutee. i spoil my dog as much as i can, but definitely not to this extent haha.

  • Trigger821@xanga

wasteful...it's like giving a baby a $5,000 SLR camera when the baby would be probably be happier with a simple colorful toy...even the dogs look vain in the pictures...

  • cutesycharm@xanga

My pets live better than other pets, but not necessarily luxury. I would probably build special rooms for my rats and kitties if I could, but not designer stuff. I know that my rats would benefit from a huge room all to themselves though. If I had big birds I would want a pretty aviary for them, never in a cage.
