How Happy Do You Like Your Birthday?
Yours truly is celebrating a birthday in 8 days and I've had many people ask me what I want for my birthday. I often ask for gift cards for items I don't often buy, such as clothes, shoes or makeup. But realistically, anything really makes me happy. (Actually, I am a huge card fanatic, I love cards!) My best friend celebrated her birthday this weekend and she is a very materialistic person who has a lot of clothes and gadgets, so often its hard to shop for her. My gift to her was taking her out to a swanky new club in downtown New York, treating her to a nice sushi dinner and buying her a nice bottle to drink on her birthday. Although the gift was on the frugal side, she absolutely loved it.
When it comes down to your birthday, what do you expect people to spend on you? Would you rather have a hands on gift or treated for the day?

I like gift cards the best, since I can spend them online.
Today's my birthday, and this is the first thing I saw when I opened up my xanga homepage :) Thanks for the coincidence!
And iTunes and Borders gift cards are the best, because books and music are such a money drain if you buy them yourself.
I never get stuff for my bday :( only christmas, although I love my bday more! I would love anything (honestly) because it meant you cared enough to get me something.
i honestly dont expect much from them. it's the thought that counts. but honestly i prefer cash :$

I'd prefer if you didn't spend any money on me. I'd rather hug you instead :)
I just want people to spend extra time with me that day. Gifts aren't necessary.
I like a mix of both. But that's only because my friends use the excuse "you're seeing me, aren't you! It's enough I remembered when it was!" and it just seems like a cop out to me. I mainly like cards, too, especially if they write something endearing. Other than that, anything that makes my friends remind them of me. I like getting random ass gifts that come with "this sooo made me think of you." I like being thought of. :)
I prefer no celebration of my birthday. None at all, save perhaps an extra trip to the salad bar. A chorus of "Happy Birthday to You" usually has me looking for some way to cause everyone to stop singing as soon as they start. Their good wishes are appreciated, but I don't care to be the center of anyone's attention. Really
I don't really care about gifts or even cards. I just care about having fun and being happy the day of my bday.

I never expect gifts from anyone. I like to hang out with friends, go to dinner with them. It would be nice if someone picked up my bill ;) but if no one does it's all good, as long as I'm having fun and with friends I'm happy.
