  • Is Texting Your Preferred Form Of Communication? How Much Do You Pay?

Communications is extremely key in life, especially with friends and family. Since I absolutely hate using the phone unless to talk to my parents, I prefer to text or email those I need to get into contact with.  Some don't  like the idea of communicating through text when face to face or phone calls are easily doable.  I just think, it's just like writing letters but really short ones haha.

Anyway, I was just wondering how much people paid for their for text and data plan since it's become the major form of communication.   If I'm not mistaken most people on the this site and across the country prefer to text just because it's easier and less hassle than having to chat with someone for some time.

So, how much are you paying for text and/or data? If you don't then what's  your preferred form of communication; social networking sites, phones, email?

I only use data when I play games on my phone, and I only use about 500 texts a month. I hardly ever call anyone because texting is so much easier, and I hate talking on the phone.

i'm with you, texting all the way...not sure how much i pay for it, but i do know it's unlimited! lol  =)

I hate talking on the phone, but love texting. My parents got me unlimited, and I think it's $10 extra per month for each phone line.
I text a lot, and would prefer it over calling.

I have a blackberry.  Under certain circumstances I prefer texting, but with those I'm close to or don't talk to often I call.  There are like 5 people on my plan so it's 30 bucks for unlimited texting for all of us.  I have internet access on just my phone that cost 30 bucks too.

I use prepaid and I have a Razr...I definitely don't do much texting although most of my friends text me. I only reply to the most important ones.

Sprint, Family Unlimited Data & Text plan, $139 for 3 phones. I even text my parents, they love it because they can get a hold of me while I am in classes and I love it because I don't have to answer my mom or listen to her on the phone for 3 hours.

Unfortunately for me - no texting plan :(

Texting is my preferred form of communicating.

I don't *hate* texting, but it's definitely not my preferred method of communication. I mean, if someone's busy that's one thing. But to do it all the time? Enough is enough! I like to hear someone's voice and their intonations and whatnot. After all, how something is said says a lot more than what is said. I usually respond to something via text if I don't want to talk to someone, or communicate with them in any way. It's the equivalent of meeting a date for breakfast, ie: not a real date, lol.

I pay $20/month for unlimitied texting up to five lines on my phone plan. And it's a good thing  cuz between my fiance and I we usually break 2000+ text messages every month and never break more than 75-100 minutes of talk time.

I don't text.  I always call a person even if it's just to ask them a question.  BUT if I had one of those cool phone with the keypads on it to make it easier on texting, I would definitely go for it.

I got unlimited text which is an addional 20 bucks per month. I love texting :) but i also call or talk in person. Sometimes texting can be creepy as my female friend says :(

I hate talking on the phone. I love texting but my parents are too cheap to pay for unlimited. Texting is way more convenient and efficient, especially when you just have something quick to say.

  • snowandstarstone@xanga

If it's not worth the effort to call them, it's not worth telling them, period. Except for directions. Those are tons better texted than told.

I much prefer texting to calling. I never liked using the phone even when I was little, so when I discovered texting it was like a godsend. I don't know how she managed to wrangle it, but my mom paid a one time $5 fee for unlimited texting for everyone on our family plan a couple years back. It was mostly for my sister, who is an avid texter and once managed 1300 texts in a month. However, my mom has been killing two birds with one stone recently - she is texting me more, which lets her "take advantage of the value" of an already great deal (Chinese fobs, you know...) and also lets her keep in touch with me way more easily. As I said, I don't like using the phone, so this is a much better way to contact me.

    Yes because it's free.

I absolutely DESPISE texting. It's irritating excercising my thumbs instead of sipmly just talking to the person and watching everyone else do it makes it worse. School is even worse. In high school, kids texted all day during class and in the halls which caused unneccessary accidents. College is even worse because of all the seminars and lectures. It's disrespectful to text while someone is talking to you. Don't you people have any manners??? So you can guess what my texting bill is like.

  • Shadowcin@xanga

Since I'm on my parents plan I don't pay for minutes because its in the family package, all that my parents make me pay is the $5 for unlimited verizon to verizon txting and another $5 for 500 outside txts.

  • Dargon@xanga

I do not text. I find it as silly. Even for those short things, I see no reason why one can't pick up the phone, call, say "hey, running late, see you in about 15 minutes, later." and hang up. It is quicker and costs less.

As for the plan, texts are disabled. Phone plan itself runs me about $12 per month.
