  • Take Me Out To The Ball Game, Leave My Wallet Behind!

Last night, I was extremely excited to catch the All Star Baseball game and get back into my favorite sport. The last baseball game I attended was the night before September 11th, 2001, where the New York Yankees played against the Baltimore Orioles.

I do not remember how much I purchased the tickets for, but I recall being able to go with my parents and having pretty decent seats. Eight years later, I'm excited to see the brand new Yankee stadium that so many people have raved about.I'd even love to see Citi Field, where the Mets play, just to experience the two new stadiums. Much to my dismay, ticket seats shot up to ridiculous prices!

Nosebleed seats average around $40 a person, while Bleachers are at a whopping $28. A decent seat to catch a great view of the game averages in the low hundreds! Isn't baseball a pastime for the whole family to enjoy? Now, once you actually get in the stadium, things like food and beer are even more expensive! Although the variety is great (I heard you can order sushi at the new stadium), it makes it difficult for someone who just wants to keep it simple.

Is it fair for stadium prices to be so high? Do the high prices discourage you from going a game or are you a true fan willing to pay to see your team?

    I'm cheap.
I go to the college summer league team in St. Joseph
Tickets are $5 for the bleachers (but they're as close as the darn-good seats at a major league park).  Or, I wait for Friday night, where $29 buys 4 tickets, 8 hot dogs, 4 20oz soft drinks, and 4 small bags of chips.

Season's only two months - June/July, but I think I've went five times this year.

Wow, very appropriate for me, actually.

I'm a baseball freak, but the last game I saw was when I was 8 or 9 (16 years ago).

Recently I purchased tickets to a Red Sox/Yankees game at Fenway park, and paid through the nose for CF bleacher seats - $160 per ticket. There's no way I'm letting this get to be a habit, but for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, to see my favorite team (Boston) against the evil empire, I'm willing to put up with it once.

We only go when someone gives us tickets. A perk hubby gets from time to time. We also learned long ago to eat prior to entering the park. I refuse to pay eight bucks for a hot dog and 6 for a soda.

I haven't been to a baseball game since the Expos left in 2004.

Wow, so glad my team has reasonable prices. Bleacher seats are under $20, I think seats start at about $12 and that is with a new stadium in the last few years. I go to 4-6 minimum a year. We usually get bleacher seats or seats under $40, that's are limit per ticket. We also go in groups and get discounts that way, do e-saver and even stubhub for cheap tickets sometimes.
We also don't buy alcohol there and although we do buy some food, we also take some snacks with us when money is tighter. Also being diabetic I usually take my own water, so that really saves me money.

My bf and I have been buying season plans for the past couple of years we love going to the stadium.  I must admit, we started buying the tickets because at the time it was cheaper to get a $5 upper deck seat and sneak down to field then to see a movie.  However with 2 new stadiums in NY, that is no longer the case. there are some great ways to enjoy freebies at the park.  At Citi Field u get a free soda when you sign up to be a designated driver, you can sign up behind home plate on any level, and you don't really have to stay sober.  You even get registered to have ur name put up on the score board and win a polo shirt. which i actually won recently and it made a great FREE fathers day gift for my dad. the shirt was valued at $65 and having my name on the score board while enjoying a FREE soda, PRICELESS!!!!

It also helps to register for the teams fan letter.  Most teams host charity blood drives where they award donors with free tickets.  The Mets are having one THUR JULY 23 from 10 am to 5 pm all donors get a pair of tix to a september game as a thank you.

it is outrageous but someone has to pay for A Rod!

I saw them in Atlanta after that I will have to save up to see them again...the expensive hot dogs and Cokes on top of the $20 parking didn't help...
good thing i already have my hat
