With lunch time on my brain, I thought about how there are so many varieties of lunch specials. The most popular one that comes to mind are the Chinese food lunch specials, that come with a delicious plate of food, a drink or egg roll and a savory side of steaming rice.
A few months ago, Applebee's had a great 2 for $20 meal, where two patrons could share an appetizer and have their own entree. To me, these options are great when it comes to sharing with others or even as an individual choice. The portions are perfectly sized for a lunchtime appetite, so to me it is a good value.
If its lunch time, Do you often opt for the lunch special? What are your favorite lunch specials? Do you really get a good value?

Lunch specials are great, and just like you said, especially at Chinese restaurants! I love getting my sweet and sour shrimps with steamed rice and wonton soup, all for about 8 bucks, its great!
a chinese restaurant near my school in maryland has a $5 lunch special-- your choice of an entree (anything from mixed veg, general tso chicken, lo mein) comes with fried rice and soup! such a good deal.
here in nyc i like getting cheap chicken in a pita or falafel from the street carts (some would say a bit questionable, but they taste greaaat) for like $3.50. it's awesome
Most of the time I bring my own lunch but on Fridays, we always go out for lunch and don't really care about any specials since the goal is just to have a good time.
I sometimes get Chinese food lunch specials if I'm in the mood for fake Chinese food. I refuse to order from Crapplebee's. Every time I go there, it's crappy, and it's the same at almost every one I've ever been to. For what it costs to go to Crapplebee's, I'd rather go to the halal carts here in NYC, get a delicious meal for $4 and STILL have enough money left over for an ice cream cone and an iced latte from Starbuck's.
Why don't you try my special lunch. Its healthy and tasty ....
