I could never do that intentionally because while shopping, I keep a tally of everything in my cart, and if I can't afford to buy groceries, I'll just wait, it's not so vital that I would resort to stealing. I have done this on accident before, though. I ran into a store once and was really hungry so I grabbed a package of cookies and placed the wrapper in the top part of the basket next to my purse so I wouldn't forget about it. Well, needless to say, I forgot about it while shopping and I didn't notice it until I was outside waiting for my ride. It had fallen into main part of the cart and since I had only bought a few things, I only had to reach into the front of the cart and I never noticed the wrapper in the back until it was too late haha! I was not about to go back inside and try to explain that I had "accidentally stolen a cookie", especially when no alarms had gone off and the moderator/superviser/dude that stands the podium and watches the self-checkers, whatever never noticed so yeah. I guess it's possible to steal something small from the checkout, but I would never do it. At least, not intentionally. =]

how do you steal from self checkout?

I've stolen a 50 cent toy before, because it was a little bunny I was getting for my daughter's easter basket and I go to ring it up and it doesn't have a price tag on it and I'm not about to go back and get another one, so I just put it in my bag.

I feel like it was okay to do that. They should make sure price tags are on everything.

enter heavy stuff manually as bananas (the cheapest $/lb) before weighing it. voila!
