Every Tuesday, I used to look forward to the release of new CD's at my local HMV music store. This was years ago when HMV was actually up and running. With everyone having an iPod and having multiple ways of downloading music straight on to it, CD sales have plummeted. My sister told me she was looking forward to the new Maxwell CD and still enjoys spending money and supporting the hard work of the artist. She is probably the only person I know that still purchases CDs.
Do you still spend money on CDs? Do you prefer having the hard copy or do you just fill your iPod with music online?

I still buy cd's. I like album artwork and stuff you get itunes only has the front cover. Plus, hard copies are always better to have to have.
I actually just bought a cd yesterday but that was because it was on sale for 6 dollars. I haven't bought one in years before that though.
i love CD's!! i prefer to have an original, but sometimes to save money i will download it from itunes and burn it on a CD. i am a collector of cd's and am proud of my 500+ collection, still growing =)
I don't think I've bought a CD since around 2004.
i like buying the cds, especially if they are an unknown artist.
CDs=awesome. My boyfriend and some of my friends mix CDs for me (I don't know how so I've never done it, but I'm sure I could figure it out) and I love getting them. <3 And it can introduce new music by the artist without the need to search for it. I would hate for CDs to stop being produced, ever. I might cry. :(
Cds! I don't even have an iPod. I have a lot of music I've gotten from friends or ripped from borrowed cds, but I still buy them.Â
i rarely buy them anymore.
what are CD's? LOL
Everything is digital for me now. I think I've bought 2 actual CD's... Taylor Swift, and Brittney Spears. Other then that all of my cd's are bought on Itunes.
i love the fact that you're buying something that someone else have put their heart into. it's not the same if you just download it straight from the net. maybe one or two songs for a try yeah, then prolly go out and buy the CDs. worst case senario, you have 2749823 songs on your computer then one day, your computer dies. you're left with nothing. start from scratch. whereas when you have the CD everything is still in tact or 'backed up' :] so yeah, CDs. then transfer it into the iPod.
I rarely buy CDs, but I do work at Sam the Record Man and we do sell a good deal of CDs considering how unpopular they have become.
I'd rather buy the CD's. But I have no money, and it's really frustrating to wait a few months after the CD's come out to buy them, so I end up downloading the music.
if it's an artist that i really like and support, i'll buy the CD because i'll want a hard copy.
VINYL REVOLUTION!!!
I don't have an ipod but I do love CDs! I like having that actual something to hold in my hands and having the CD art to look at with the lyrics too. It's very exciting getting a new CD.
Burning CD's is easier and maybe practical nowadays. I buy CD's of classical musicians only and some artists I really love. But other than that, I download music online.
if she really wants to support the artist she should buy merch instead. CD sales mostly go towards the record labels and not towards the artist whereas merch goes mostly to the artist.
@mr_faust@xanga - YES. i'm with you there. :]
i usually buy CDs. i'm really not too much of a fan of the iTunes music store. i will only buy from there if i'm given a gift card.
I buy CDs. I like having a tangible object for my money instead of some bits of data that, with a little bit of work, I could have found for free. I like being able to look at the album art and the linear notes, and being able to put a CD in my stereo (I always see a dip in quality in iTunes burnt CDs, dunno if that's just me).
i buy cds by my favourite bands/my fav albums and because i like the cover art on them,
but most of the time they just get copied onto the computer and lay untouched on a shelf. .My husband and I both still buy CD's but, like you, we don't really know anyone else who still does. I never download and my husband rarely does; we both have MP3 players but rarely use them. The odd time we use our MP3 players, we rip music from the CD's to put on them. We listen to CD's both on the computer and in the car, and we make lots of trips to CD stores (both new and used) because we just like to have original hard copies and to support the artists. Altogether we currently have over 400 CD's!
@EndlessMike03@xanga - What do you mean you can't easily put CD's on your ipod? You can rip CD's right into Itunes!
Since I download most of the music on my mp3 player somewhat illegally and try not to support Apple, I spend the money I would use to buy songs online towards CDs, records, and concert tickets. I would much rather support the artist with something I can touch than just hear.
I usually buy the digital download if it is offered DRM free. If not I'll buy the CD (assuming it's not an RIAA label).
Often little no-name local bands will offer CDs at their shows, but do not have digital downloads available online (except maybe through piracy). If I like their sound, I do buy those. Not to mention local bands usually sell their CDs rather cheap. Then I rip them to my hard drive and put the CD on the shelf where it never leaves.
I love buying CDs. I'll know ahead of time that I like a couple of the songs, then I'll hear the others and, more often than not, find more to love about it.
