The Worse Place To Get a Ticket
As a native New Yorker I am currently practicing my driving around the city and my close neighbor New Jersey, and I must say I hear lots of stories about how tickets are ridiculously expensive. Like anyone would be, I am fearful of getting my first ticket when I do indeed get my license.A study I found on MSN confirms these fears for me. According to a study done by the National Motorists Association, New Jersey was ranked as the number one state to get tickets. Just based on personal experience, I know a lot of my friends are very loose with the state driving laws, so this is not very surprising. Often everyone I know from New Jersey says "If the speed limit is 65, that means you need to go 85.", basically just add 20 to any speed limit and that is considered up to par. How did other states compare to New Jersey?
New York, came at a close number 5, which surprised me since such a congested city with confusing parking rules often leave people with multiple orange tickets on their vehicle.1

I've only gotten 1 speeding ticket (13 over) and it was when I lived in Ohio.
My state ranks 13. The other states I visit a lot lately rank 6 and 20. I wonder if the rankings show the level of bad drivers or only the diligence of officers?
I'm surprised CT is only #32. Then again, I live in one of the few actual cities in Connecticut. I guess in the rest of the state it's a lot harder to get a ticket because it's practically all rural.
I'm not surprised Ohio is #2, I've heard they pull you over for everything. My friend got pulled over there once for going about 85 on the highway...around here, they would never bother to pull you over for that.
I'm in Michigan. I've been pulled over 3 times. Twice for equiptment problems (1 headlight out, 1 taillight out) and once because I was accused of speeding (I was NOT). Never had a ticket and only one written warning. What's really irritating is the written warning was in the township I work for!!!
I think it's funny that SD ranks #42. My parents have a very bad experience being pulled over in SD. Bad enough they won't even go into that state anymore!
Lol.
My boyfriend got a ticket in Ohio for going 67 in a 65.My math teacher got a ticket for going 27 in a 25.Lol.Ohio.Lol Virginia is number 8. No shocker. I typically go 5 over the speed limit, sometimes 10 and even COPS pass me because I'm so slow apparently. I'm not saying this about all cops of course, but a lot of them in my area can be assholes.
