In Hong Kong, Air is Replacing Wires
I have been experiencing the impact of communication technology at the cutting edge in Hong Kong. It seems that wires (optical or metallic) are becoming obsolete.
I have used mobile phone for more than 13 years. In recent months, I switched to mobile broadband from fixed-line broadband Internet service. Then from next month onwards, my fixed-line phone will be replaced by something wireless too. I will use the phone as before, but there will be no visible wire going into my house. I don’t know how they can do this. I only know that my telephone bill payment will be greatly reduced.
Is this also happening in other countries?

Oh yes. It's happening here too. Wireless technology is here to stay. And that also means less people tripping over wires too.
