Leave it to anyone to love a happy hour. Usually, they are during strange hours of the day when you're either in school or working. This summer, I've come across a lot of personal favorite happy hours where I can spend less than $10 to enjoy a few drinks at various hours of the day. My top three favorite happy hours span the New York City tri-state area, so if you're in the area, you should absolutely check these out!
1. Bahama Mama's:
215 Washington St
Hoboken, NJ 07030-4738
(201) 217-1642
http://www.bahamamamasnj.comUpon a random night of going to Hoboken for no reason whatsoever, I was lucky enough to find this bar along the beautiful strip of Washington Street, which caters to a handful of other bars. This one is a personal favorite because of the Hawaiian atmosphere and laid back feeling you get once you're there. They have 3 days for happy hours:
Thursdays: All Night is Happy Hour! Drink $1 drafts and $3 frozen and mixed drinks (From a pre-selected menu of interesting drinks the establishment created)
Friday: Happy Hour Until Midnight. Drink $1 drafts and $3 frozen and mixed drinks and $3 Coronas and $5 Bacardi flavors.
Saturday: Happy Hour Until 11pm. Drink $1 drafts and $3 frozen and mixed drinks and $3 Coronas and $5 Bacardi flavors.
2. Johnny Famous:
40-05 Bell BoulevardBayside,
NY 11361 (718) 224-0690http://www.johnnyfamousonline.comLocated in the midst of lots of bars and restauraunts, Johnny Famous stood out to me not only because my friends were big fans, but because of their mid-day drink specials. Every Wednesday is free admission for everyone 21 and over. If you're hungry, spend only 10 cents on wings and wash it down with $2 drafts. And ladies, if you're feeling gutsy enough and want to make a little more cash, enter the mechanical bull contest. For the lady who rides the bull the longest, they'll recieve a cash prize of $150. Cheap drinks, free contest? That makes my wallet really happy!
3.Turtle Bay
987 2nd Ave (between 52nd St & 53rd St)
New York,
NY 10022 (212) 223-4224 www.turtle-bay.comIf you're looking for a bar to get all dressed up to, Turtle Bay is the place to be. I felt like a martian dressed in jeans and a nice shirt among females dressed in summer dresses and men in shirts and ties. Don't be fooled though, you might dress like a million bucks, but you sure won't spend it. Everyday you can find specials to satisfy your need to go out, but do so in a less costly fashion.
