McD's Tries to Add Value During The Recession
With higher prices hitting consumers from all sides, McDonald's promised its Dollar Menu would live up to its name even as meat, dairy, grain and oil costs soar.
Last month McDonald's said it would uphold its Dollar Menu even as the price of food staples and oil drive up the company's input costs."This is not the time to be passing costs on to consumers," a McD's spokesperson proclaimed, adding that customers look to the hamburger chain to be "the value leader" especially as rising food and fuel costs increasingly strain budgets. The World Bank reported that average food prices are 2.5 times higher now than in 2002. I am imagining a 10 buck Big Mac!Do you look to fast food chains for a cheaper alternative when you're low on cash? Which one do you prefer?

Their nuggets still cost too much. XD Jack in the Box is a better deal for me! lol I like just ordering a medium fries from McDs and grabbing a few different sauces and just savoring it. That fills me up somewhat if it had to.
Hmm... sometimes. I have also noticed that more and more fast food places have been adopting the fancy sit-in restaurants appeal.
I dont care how cheap it is, making food at home is still going to be cheaper for me.
thats nice of them to keep prices the same, but its also just a competitive marketing stint.
Usually it is cheaper to go to the store and buy food and make it at home, it might cost more to be the ingredients but you get more in the end. I don't really have a favorite fast food place, it varies and depends on my mood, I like Jack in the Box for having grilled chicken stripes when most places don't have alot of low carb options.
I am vegetarian, student (so not a lot of money) obsessed with my weight and feared of "strange" fat on my food. So I have problem with Fast foods ! Hard for me to eat their, and to feel good with what I have to eat (but I did it on saturday to be with friends).
Forgiven all this, I don't think, really that it's a good choice concerning nutrition and money : you can cook a healthy and more nutritive meal for less money. Mac Donald is an expensive restaurant if we look at what we have in our... boxes (can't say plates :/).
Taco Bell Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito!
McDonald's already upped their prices on some things.
We bought a loaf of bread, a pound of hamburger, a two-liter, and a bottle of thousand island dressing for less than a No. 2 costs @ McD's. I don't like fries and we already have cheese.
That's nice for them to do that, since they're already making a killing off of their customers. Not that I'll start going there, since I don't like their food, but it's a nice thought.
No, because if there is food at home then it's cheaper.
Eating a week's worth of calories in one sitting saves me time AND money! YAY!
food at home. but let's just say that's not an option at the moment....i love the dollar menu. 3 mcdoubles (shitty name) and a small drink and i'm good.
<3
yeah. i bend to fast food sometimes when i'm low on money.
I do like the value menus when low on money. McD's & BK are my top 2!
ill just stay home and eat
Taco Bell!
I'd rather stay home and make frozen pizza or cook up my own hamburgers than have fast food. The prices are ridiculous!
Taco Bell is always my first choice.
