Cell Phones: Trend vs. Functionality

I'm getting sick of my Blackberry, so I was looking for a potential new phone online. Its so overwhelming!
There are so many things to consider:
- Brand
- FeaturesBattery Life
- Megapixels
- PRICE
I considered getting a touchscreen phone with a slide out QWERTY keyboard from LG (LG Xenon) but it only comes in one color, so I changed my mind. Its too bad, it had great reviews too.
So, as anyone can see, I'm pretty picky. I need a phone with great memory capacity, great features, and is something I can brag about look-wise but also has a reasonable price (nothing over $400).
And I need one that is perfect for avid texters. Please, no iPhones.
Any one have any leads on good phones, preferably a new model? Are you more into the trend or the functionality?

I recommend a side-flip phone with a keypad inside. Many of my friends have those and they are durable, functional, and tend to have good battery life.

I've been using the G1 from HTC since it launched, and i love it.
its like the LG phone, but comes in other colors

Dude, I have had the same phone for 3+ years. A little nokia phone. It can't take pictures and the phone rings are limited but this phone is a warrior! It has survived near fatal falls and brutal blows to the wall after I've ended less than friendly conversations.

i love my samsung propel! it has a slide out QWERTY keypad, i'm not sure how much memory but there's a slot to put in a memory card if you need more, it has better battery life than i'm used to, etc. you should check it out because i love it :)

For an avid texter I would go for something with real keys not a touch screen. My best advice is to go into the store and try out the phones and see which feels best.

i gotta admit, i go for the trend most of the time. right now, i have a shadow and i'm a little frustrated with it because it's new and i'm just not used to it yet.

Functionality, but I have to like the way it looks as well. With my latest phone I knew that there were certain features that I had to have such as a full keyboard for texting and e-mail as I use my phone for my job while on the go during the week. Certain other features I didn't care about.

I would say trend for myself because I feel that I can funtion without a phone. I was never a big phone person to begin with, and I don't talk to people much either so for myself its almost useless. It's almost just an emergency thing and notthing more for me to tell you the truth.
