Today for the first time in a long time, I did not spend a dime while I was out.
Normally I find myself buying food or something to drink but today I didn't.
I started my day off with a light jog in the morning. Instead of buying a bottle of water, I took one from home.
In the afternoon I had a basketball game. I usually buy Gatorade, but just filled a nalgene bottle with water and mixed it with protein powder.
After the game when all the guys wanted to go out to eat, I came home and cooked something. I wasn't really hungry to begin with so I didn't need the added pressure of others eating around me.
I was really proud of myself, even though it doesn't seem like a great feat at all but I've been trying to cut back on spending as much as possible. Hopefully this is a start.
Have you ever gone a without spending any money?

oh you noble person, you.
sorry for the sarcasm, but seriously, i can count on my hand the days in the last month that I have spent money (usually only to get groceries). i do not feel the need to get something every time i am out just because i am out or with friends. i eat at home all of the time, and often bring things with me when i know i am going to be out all day.
never.
i have no problem doing that.
The average day, I spend nothinggg. It's not hard for me, 'cause...I have no money to spend and when I do I'm paranoid about spending it (it's how I've always been, 'cause I grew up knowing that money's not easily replenished).
yup! very tempting though : ( but i made it :D
It's not that hard.
It's hard when you have the money and you're out from home for about twelve hours. I find myself wanting to buy a coffee after about seven hours... but two or three dollars here and there add up so fast
I pack a lunch when I go out, make coffee at home if I feel that I absolutely need it, and try to make snacks to bring with me to get me through the day so I don't have as much of a desire to buy something from a vending machine. Just have to plan ahead.
i have. people don't need to feed into the wants just the needs.
I never spend any money. It honestly isn't that hard. I pack my meals, I bring my own multiple water bottles, I don't shop unless I really NEED it (especially on a daily basis, plus I still live at home, so I never really "need" anything I don't already have).
The only thing I spend money on regularly is filling the car with gas, which isn't even all that regularly at every 2-6 months.
I'm a college kid and I have no money to spend anyway, so it's easy. =P
I keep myself busy with work and what not, so it's easy not to spend money on some days. I do try to make it a goal though - see how long I can go without spending money. =D
I sure hope people can go a whole day without spending money ! I go a few weeks at a time ,We all need to cut back drastically, really a person does not need much money to provide them with all they need .Just takes a little work and you can live a good life without much money at all.Teresa
It's easy- work a full time time and pack a lunch. It's even easier when you work OT.
i do it all the time. i pay bills, buy food, and after that, the only thing i do is buy gas for the truck once a week.
I've gone times where I spent money maybe two or three times a month (gas, groceries, and bills). It is not difficult.
yeah. nearly every single day. it's called college.
Old habits die hard but congratulations to you for being able to to this. Let this become habit forming and you'll have more money, be able to eat better, and then will have a little disposable income for things that you really want.
As for me, I live a modest lifestyle and spend many days out without dropping dime, except of course for the gasoline required to transport me here and there (riding a bicycle is not an option in Las Vegas IF you want to live). I come from humble beginnings so being frugal is nothing new to me.
this is stupid
simple things that i feel you already should have been doing =P it's hard for me to not eat out because my lifestyle is so irregular... right now my bf and i have two different homes so we flip flop randomly between them, and he also works really late hours, so we pretty much have to eat out... if we buy food it usually ends up forgotten and rotten in the fridge since we spend so little time at either home. next year it's going to be different though =)
Not spending any money for an entire day isn't too hard if you work all day and pack a lunch. So... not too hard, but I can see how it could be uncommon for some people.
I go several days without spending money. Mostly because I'm a college student. I eat in the cafeteria and usually just eat out when I'm catching up with friends and then I just to be cheap as I can be. I'm the one friend with a wallet full of Subway coupons. Weekend for the most part I just go to the movies are something.
have no problem doing it... I hate spending money :)
I'm broke and not employed, I can go for days.
The days I go without spending money are the days when I'm the happiest.
