  • Amazon, eBay, or Craigslist? What's Your Preference to Sell and Save Money

    Ms. Piggy Bank

I have so many accounts on different websites it's absurd. As I attempted to unsubscribe and cancel my membership to some, I wondered why I had three "consumer" accounts. So I sat down and tried to decide what I use each site for:

    1. Ebay - Use it to bid on pointless yet entertaining things like Dark Horse graphic novels or some sort of collector's item such as the Saved by the Bell Soundtrack (don't judge please).

    2. Amazon - I sell my old school books here and find great deals on texts, dvds, and electronics. I do a majority of my online shopping through this site.

    3. Craigslist - I use it to post ads for my services (just for the record, to tutor.. not sell my body). I also use it to search for jobs and occasionally read those idealistic yet creepy missed connections.

It definitely makes sense to keep the Amazon one since that's where I do my most selling and purchasing. Ultimately though, I am holding on to all three accounts because I use them for such different purposes.

The experience got me thinking for what purpose do people use each of the aforementioned sites. There always seems to be an eBay vs. Amazon war but now Craigslist has immersed itself deeply into the battle of online auctions, sales, and cheap products.

Does anyone prefer to selling/buying items through Craigslist and eBay as opposed to Amazon? How come? Do you have a preference for any of these sites? Any there any other sites worth mentioning?
