This is a guest blog submitted by justinimal For me, Moms are the hardest family member to shop for at Christmas. When I was little, I could get away with making snowflake ornaments, a fancy card or something especially tacky. No matter what I made, my mother always loved it.
Now, almost 22 years old and in my last year of college, I realize just how much Moms get shafted by their kids away at school. I call, at best, once a week, and the calls last only long enough to let her know that I am alive and still have all my limbs attached. I know it makes her sad, because it makes me sad, too.
And this year has been especially hard on my mother, for various reasons.
From money being tight (thank you, economy) to seeing her youngest daughter on the verge of graduation (yours truly), I know she is feeling a little low. Really, I'd love nothing more this Christmas than to just give her something to
really smile about.
So this Christmas, I would love to get my mother something special. I always ask her, "What do you want for Christmas?" and she answers sarcastically with "Some peace and quiet away from this crazy dog!" or "A new brain, cause I feel fried!" Her responses are always things that I can't
actually give her, but I know she would actually love.
What is the hot Mom gift this year? What is on the Mom Wish List for Santa? Are you having trouble getting something for your mom or even your dad?

I wish i knew! I can't think of anything good to get my dad either.
If your mom's feeling stressed or "blue" you could always book her a day at a spa. That way she could get her hair done, or get a massage, etc. and it's a day that's truly just for her to relax and enjoy herself. Or, if you want, you could book a day where you could both go together and make an outing of it--maybe grab a lunch and go see a movie afterwards.
It sounds kind of pricey but you'd be surprised at what kind of deals you could find, especially around the holidays, and you might get a better deal if you do decide to book a day for both of you instead of only for her. Just an idea...
If you have lots of family pictures you can make her a scrapbook. Moms love stuff like that.
I like that spa idea..
I normally end up taking my mom out for a meal out! xD she loves it when she doesnt have to cook!....
I'm quite the opposite. I find shopping for my mom incredibly easy. My dad, however, not so much... Every time I go to find something for him, I end up finding more things for mom. *sigh* and the search continues...
I'm doing the spa idea, as well, for my mom and aunties. :D
Me and my sister have bought a joint gift this year for my parents, my Mum birthday is in December.
We bought them a digital photo frame.
If you don't have a lot of money and you really want her to feel pampered, maybe you could take out a reflexology book and massage her feet and hands. It would make her feel pampered plus give her your time.
I also didn't know what to get my mom. The only thing she expressed wanting are victoria secret panties and a new bag. But the nice leather bags she wants are like 200$!! So I opted for the cheaper leather and got her a 60$ bag which is still pretty nice. Get her something she will use daily and that will be reminded of you :)
Look thru her closet, see what stores she likes to buy clothes, then get her a gift card from that store.
