This is a guest blog submitted by The_Prestigiator New Year's Eve is fabulous for one overall reason - the parties. Whether you hit a lounge, a private party, find yourself screaming your head off, freezing your buns off in Times Square, or just kickin it with your family at home, New Year's Eve is a great time to let the champagne pop loose and let the fun be plentiful.
However, we're in a recession and expensive club cover charges and high priced drinks are not the best way to protect the savings account numbers from dwindling.
I, for one, am probably staying home and keeping it low key. I have compiled a great list titled "Movies to Watch before The Clock Strikes 12".
My family and friends are going to each contribute something yummy to our dinner. I'm sure we'll also enjoy a dance party or two to our favorite throwback hits (hint: Wannabe). It's going to be great because we're not going to go broke and bored stiff.
Maybe it's much too early in the game but I thought I'd ask y'all the same. What are you planning to do New Year's Eve? Are you going somewhere to celebrate or keeping it low key?

I will be keeping it low with my family again this year. Buying drinks is getting too expensive. I like your idea of movies to watch before Midnight. I'm excited for New Years for a new start, new chance to change bad selfish habits, do new things.
I've only been to a new year's party twice in my life, so I really don't get spending a lot of money on a NYE party. My family went to church every NYE through new years day. If for some reason we couldn't make it to night-watch service, we still had to be in bed by our usual bedtime. Last year I went to a bar and only spent about $10, and the year before I went to my friend's empty house (she was moving out) and we had a $7 bottle of champagne at midnight. This year, I'll prob watch the ball drop for free on my couch in my pjs.
I never go out on New Years Eve, I spent the time with my parents.
