Strippers & Adult Stars: Working Extra Hard to Put Bread on the Table
This is a guest blog submitted by The_Prestigiator
Recessions hurt everyone. No one is shielded from the blows of economic downfall. And guess what? Even the best of exotic dancers and adult stars are hit hard.
When times are low and CEO's are being dropped left and right, even the big "spendas" find themselves zipping up their wallets. No more lap dances and champagne popping for the high-roller. New York City's exotic dancers are suffering worst of all, especially with Wall Street so close to home. So what exactly happens to the feisty, flesh revealing seducers of classy joints? That's easy. Their tips drop faster than the Dow and Puff Daddy's "All About the Benjamins" after getting remade into "All About the Georgies."
They're lucky if on a good night they make seventy-five bucks total. You know we've definitely entered a deep recession when not even the most infamous of playboys can spare enough bills to decorate a G-string.
And what about those poor adult stars? Apparently, they too are not recession-proof. In an already congested industry, adult filmmakers have been struggling as of late. DVD sales have recently plummeted and rentals have steadily decreased.
Guess the saying "sex sells" just looked in the mirror and questioned its own existence.
What do you make of this? Do you think it's funny or does it actually worry you that the economy is so bad that even sex, booze, and clubbing are taking a severe nose dive?

I would like to spare anyone from having to comment about this. Just for the record, I know that in the last declarative sentence the IT'S is supposed to be the possessive ITS. No need to state the obvious. Gracias. :)
@The_Prestigiator@xanga - haha got to it before I could. Thanksss.
But I don't it's funny at all. I mean if it can hit the people who have to do this for a living imagine how much it's hurting the everyday people, working 9-5 jobs
i think the clubbin business is booming actually so people can escape reality and just have a good time.
Ha! Adult film stars have been getting hit hard for a long time, I'm sure they'll be alright.
I'm not surprised. And with America being the number 1 consumer in adult films, that's a big message being sent.
I don't think that its true. I know way too many people who are still making a killing. When times are tough, lonely men are more likely to go pay for something so they wont be as lonely.
time to find something else to do...no matter how bad it gets, there are always people making money.
@PlasticPill@xanga - zing. haaaaaa! good one!
It is a business - just like any other - and not recession proof! When it comes to the mortgage or going out 3 nights a week? The mortgage usually wins!
Sex does sell... but there needs to be money for people to buy!
I guess not even the most lucrative professions prove all that lucrative!
Damn, are you kidding me, I mean sex does in fact sell no doubt about that but hey have you people taken a look around lately at America? Once the greatest super power in the world now is in the toilet and sinking fast...Also my personal issue on sex, for all the fat cats as you say and all of that ect....I know its a buisness and all,but c'mon sex is everywhere if your out clubbing or on the job some woman will always walk by in tight tight cloths....on TV in the movies ect...
