Adapting to The Tough Economic Times. Cut Back on Spending
This is a guest blog submitted by abbyndc
With the current economy and job market, I have been looking for ways to cut back on expenses. I have also begun checking for unnecessary or inaccurate charges on my credit cards.
So far I have started cooking more often instead of going out, look more closely at sales at the grocery store than before, consolidated my errands (less gas mileage), and only buy what I need (no luxury purchases). I also found that I had too much of one feature on my mobile phone, so I downsized my options. Today I am looking into downsizing our expanded cable to basic. Later this week, I plan to meet with my financial advisor for my annual portfolio review.
In what ways are you looking to trim your budget or cope with the current economy?

Using more coupons, shopping at outlet centers, catching the bus instead of driving or using the park and ride when I can.
Also, I plan on turning one of my flower gardens into a vegetable garden to help save money.
I'm installing a rain barrel in my yard to save money in watering the grass and gardens.
I havent changed anything. I try to save money no matterhow the economy looks!!!
I have saved a ton of money lately, though, because gas prices have dropped so much. That has made me a very happy girl.
While the economy is tough these days, I should have been much more thrifty before these times, I was way too spendy, not cool at all.
Now:
I'm trying to not use my credit cards at all, if I don't have the cash I shouldn't be buying it- I was def. not wise about this in the past, oiiiiii :(((
Trying to find more coupons, buying on sale items only- I feel good when I do this, it is good to have a mindset that every cent does count.
Stop getting take-out so muchhhh!!
& I'm finding myself trying to find ways to earn extra money online, one of my ways that work: http://sites.google.com/site/makeeasymoneyontheweb
& lastly I need to be working harder- I'm wanting to find a second job, yup
We've always been thrifty and we've hardly ever spent any money that we didn't need to.
Nevermind you, it's rare that we have much money to needlessly spend in the first place...
So notta much has changed for our habits. ALTHOUGH I am seriously beginning to love barter, trade, and freecycle-esque things in addition to my love of flea markets, farmer's markets, and church sales.
It's made me think more about my future though, so it HAS changed my plans...but not my methods, really.
