Dollarish QOTD: How Do I Start Becoming More Financially Responsible?

Ever since I started living alone, I realized I could do more to save. The task is harder than it seems. My dad says to make a list of your expenses every week, see where you spend the most and try to cut down on that. That was a good tip and it helped me but I feel that I could do more.
What are some steps to take to help minimize expenses?

There are tons of things you can do. Living with someone else and sharing expenses can save a ton of money - but then you have to live with someone else! Getting rid of your car means no gas, no insurance - but you might need it to get around.
Try cutting out things that are extras to see how much you really miss them. Give up cable for a month - how much did you miss it? Have only a landline or a cell phone - do you really need both?
Without more info, it is hard to give any other advice, sorry!
Separate your needs and your wants. If you really want to save money, cut back on your wants.Â
It helps to get an accountability partner. Bonus if they're are good at making u feel guilty at stuff!!
