CherryPal: A New Deliciously Affordable Desktop For the Thrifty Consumer
This is a guest blog submitted by The_Prestigiator
Election day featured a breakthrough in US politics when a senator named Barack Obama rose from humble beginnings and made his mark on history as the first black president. November 4th, 2008 was also special for a lesser-known reason ---The CherryPal C114 Desktop was apparently shipped to all its eagerly awaiting customers.
I myself ordered a CherryPal. I first read about it on my friend Christina's blog and was nervous about ordering a new kind of computer. Still, I went ahead and made the purchase since I was desperate.
Why am I mentioning it on Dollarish? Because I'm completely enamored with it.
I love its small compact size, its speed, its unique cloud-computing concept, and best of all, its AFFORDABILITY!
Truth be told, I was in the market for a laptop but the CherryPal, at a retail price of $249, was too good to resist. I needed something cheap and stable so I took a chance and am glad I did. CherryPal also featured (and still features) the following promotional code CPP319. It knocks only 10 bucks off the total $249 price but hey, the more I save the merrier I am!
I also appreciate the CherryPal C114 for its support of green technology. Unlike my Dell Inspiron, this Cherrypal desktop doesn't overheat nor does it make annoying whirring noises. According to the CherryPal website, this desktop uses ONLY 2 watts of power which will be a breath of relief for my electricity bills. Additionally, it features 80% fewer parts than the standard desktop and, since it contains no moving parts, it lasts longer (hence less waste in the long-run).
For any recent graduates or college students who grow alarmed at the expensive laptops and desktops available, look no further. The CherryPal is innovative, easy to move into and out of a dorm, and simple to use. It comes with 8GB of memory, 24/7 free tech support, all the basic operating programs already installed, a promise of no virus risks, and a price tag that is difficult to resist!
$249, plus $10 off with the CPP319 code = $239 for a reliable desktop. (Honestly, it was the price that did it for me in the end and the environmental focus second.)
I did a lot of research ahead of time because my three Dells over the past 6 years have disappointed me (and I don't even upload songs or games onto my computers)!
Has anyone heard of the CherryPal? Would you consider ordering one since it's so affordable?

I've never heard of this until now. I'm going to wait a while to see what people say in their reviews, but it seems worth looking into (I'm concerned about the environment, too, and the fact that it's cheap also piqued my interest). I've been looking for a small laptop for class just for simple computing, like word processing or surfing the internet. I'm a gamer, but I'm saving my money to build a desktop, although I'm probably not going to be doing this too soon what with the economy the way it is.
In the meantime, though, I need something portable, affordable, and just does the basic stuff for class. I don't think the CherryPal will really be practical for in-class use, so I'm still considering the ASUS Eee PC 900 or the Acer Aspire One, which are relatively cheap. Amazon.com is having people vote for which products should have really awesome discounts for the holidays and the Asus EEE 900 was on the poll. In the email I received, it says it's $449, but this is the list price; it's $397 on Amazon. If it wins the vote, which it looks like it will, the price will be knocked down to $129. I'm not sure which one I'll get, but I think these are more suitable for my needs. I will definitely keep the CherryPal in mind, though.
Thanks for posting this.
Honestly the whole thing looks silly. I wouldn't get this for my grandma. 400mhz processor? Cellphones run on that speed. And cloud computing? really? If the company goes under you're in trouble, if it even works at all.
good luck
I've heard of it, and it sounds neat. I might consider saving up for one for my brother since he's wanting to work for Mom.
I've been considering it. I'm feeling the need to streamline seeing as I own 4 computers. 2 laptops: one personal, one work, a gaming computer, and a standard desktop. I can tell you, my electricity bills are hefty! (sigh).
If I had room for a desktop I would... but until I have more space I must have a laptop. (Seriously, unless I want no dining room table. Which means only eating on the couch - no matter what. My kitchen is too small for a table)
@Delphiki@xanga - I know it seems silly responding to my own comment, but you click the link, it'll redirect you to my original comment. Anyway, I just wanted to add that I found out that Amazon is selecting people to buy items at the discounted price. It's not for everyone. So if I don't get picked, I can't get the ASUS EEE PC 900 for $127. :( I think I'm going to go with the Acer Aspire One, though, so it's all right.
